MTK Fight Night returns to York Hall with huge card

Danny Dignum, Isaac Lowe and Charlie Edwards are among those that will be involved on a massive card when #MTKFightNight heads back to York Hall in London on Friday 3 December

The action-packed bill will be broadcast in the US on ESPN+ in association with Top Rank, and worldwide on IFL TV, with a number of big fights set to take place.

Undefeated Dignum (13-0-1, 7 KOs) makes his highly-anticipated return, when the world-ranked star squares off with dangerous Argentinian Lucas Brian Ariel Bastida (17-1-1, 9 KOs) for the vacant WBA International middleweight title.

Fellow unbeaten fighter Lowe (21-0-3, 6 KOs) has the biggest test of his career so far when he meets Luis Alberto Lopez (23-2, 12 KOs) in a final eliminator for the IBF featherweight title, while former world champion Charlie Edwards (16-1, 6 KOs) faces Jacob Barreto (13-3, 5 KOs).

The card will also feature a number of exciting rising stars, as Jordan Reynolds (3-0, 1 KO), Shiloh Defreitas (1-0, 1 KO), Carl Fail (3-0, 2 KOs), Elliot Whale (4-0, 1 KO) and Joe Giles (1-0) all return, plus there are professional debuts for Nina Hughes and Arnold Obodai.

MTK Global Promoter Lee Eaton said: “We had an event to remember when we were at York Hall last month, and it’s going to be even bigger and better when we return with a stacked show on December 3.

“It’s great to have Danny Dignum back after his fight with Andrey Sirotkin last time out, and he’s jumping straight back in at the deep end with a tough battle against Lucas Brian Ariel Bastida for the vacant WBA International middleweight title.

“Isaac Lowe looks to continue his quest towards a world title when he has a final eliminator against Luis Alberto Lopez, plus we’re excited to have Charlie Edwards competing in his first fight in over a year.

“With the likes of Jordan Reynolds, Shiloh Defreitas, Carl Fail, Elliot Whale, Joe Giles, Nina Hughes and Arnold Obodai all on the card too, it is certain to be a special night inside York Hall.”

NEWS: AUSTRALIAN HEAVYWEIGHT CONTENDER DEMSEY MCKEAN PENS PROMOTIONAL DEAL WITH MATCHROOM

19-0 southpaw returns on Andrade vs. Quigley undercard
Undefeated Australian Heavyweight contender Demsey McKean has signed a multi-fight promotional deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and will make his American debut on the Demetrius Andrade vs. Jason Quigley WBO Middleweight World Title bill at the SNHU Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire on Friday November 19, live worldwide on DAZN.

The 31-year-old southpaw from Queensland, who is trained by Tony Sims at the Matchroom Elite Boxing Gym in Essex, is the reigning WBO Asia Pacific Champion and the reigning IBF Inter-Continental Champion, belts that rank him at No.11 in the world with the WBO and No. 12 in the world with the IBF.

Demsey (19-0, 12 KOs) was used as a sparring partner by former Unified Heavyweight World Champion Anthony Joshua ahead of his huge showdown with Oleksandr Usyk at the home of Tottenham Hotspur in September before joining the WBC’s No.1 ranked Heavyweight Dillian Whyte at his Portugal training camp ahead of his cancelled fight with Otto Wallin.

“I am delighted on my recent signing and to join the Matchroom Boxing team and get back in the ring next week,” said McKean. “I’ve had a brilliant time over the last few months sparring with Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte but now it’s time to do it for real and I can’t wait to fight in America. 
 
“Matchroom have big plans in Australia but it also gives me the chance to box all over the world including the USA and the U.K. I’m looking forward to staying active and to keep climbing the Heavyweight rankings, thank you to Eddie Hearn and Angelo DiCarlo and the Ace Boxing Group team for making this happen.”

“I’m very happy to announce Demsey as part of the Matchroom Boxing team as we continue our expansion into Australia,” said Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn. “Demsey is 19-0 and now ranked No. 11 with the WBO and 12 with the IBF in the Heavyweight division and sits on the cusp of some huge fights. Whilst the plan for us is to begin staging shows in Australia in 2022, we plan on boxing Demsey all around the world starting in the States next week. I’m excited to keep him active and continue to raise his profile globally before we return home for a major fight in Australia.”

McKean’s first action with Hearn and Matchroom is part of a stacked night of action in Manchester, New Hampshire with a quadruple header of World Title action, led by Demetrius Andrade (30-0 18 KOs) defending his WBO World Middleweight Title against Ireland’s Jason Quigley (19-1, 14 KOs).

Murodjon Akhmadaliev (9-0, 7 KOs) defends his IBF and WBA World Super-Bantamweight Titles against Ronny Rios (33-3 16 KOs), it’s Mexico vs. Puerto Rico in the long-awaited showdown between WBC World Flyweight Champion Julio Cesar Martinez (18-1 14 KOs) and McWilliams Arroyo (21-4 16 KOs) and the fourth World Title bout on the bill is the second step on the path to crowing an undisputed women’s champion at 140lbs as Kali Reis (18-7-1 5 KOs) takes on Jessica Camara (8-2) for the WBA, IBO and vacant WBO straps.
